The British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM) is a unique medical charity providing health advice and support to members of the performing arts community. We provide a national Helpline and confidential clinical consultations for performers experiencing performance-related health problems, as well as education and resources on healthy performance practice and professional training in performing arts medicine.

About the role

Following the planned retirement this year of our current chief executive, BAPAM seeks a leader to take the charity forward over what promises to be an exciting new period of ambitious growth in partnership with our principal funder, Help Musicians UK. The role involves strategic and operational leadership of the organisation, including management of a small team of administrative staff and a clinical workforce comprising of voluntary and healthcare professionals working throughout the UK.

For this role we’re looking for someone who is a strong leader, someone who has the ability to innovate and offer creative solutions, whilst thinking strategically. The successful candidate will be passionate about the performing arts and have the ability to be flexible and adaptable whilst displaying personal integrity and high standards of work.

We’re Recruiting: Job Opportunity at BAPAM

BAPAM (The British Association for Performing Arts Medicine) is a unique healthcare charity supporting performing arts professionals and students faced with an injury or health issue which affects their ability to work and perform. We are also dedicated to sharing knowledge about healthy practice throughout the performing arts industry.

We are recruiting a part-time administrative assistant to help us in our busy central London clinic. The role primarily involves co-ordinating our medical correspondence and records, plus reception duties.

We are looking for a competent typist with excellent IT skills including proficiency using MS Office, experience of using CRM systems or other databases for data entry and retrieval, and the ability to quickly learn and implement digital filing systems. You will need to be comfortable working with members of the public. An interest in performing arts health is desirable. A creative approach to managing multiple tasks and working under pressure will be essential. We sometimes work outside of office hours including occasional weekends. Training relevant for working in a charity/healthcare environment will be provided.

The successful applicant will need to complete a satisfactory DBS check prior to commencement.

The position is permanent. The salary is £7,906 per annum for 2 days a week (0.4 wte).

Benefits include additional 8% employer’s pension scheme contribution and 5 weeks holiday pro rata.

Associate Medical Director Recruitment

We seek an Associate Medical Director (Sessional, Fixed Term) to work 8 sessions/month for 12 months on governance, quality assurance and workforce development. Regular clinic sessions are also involved.

The British Association for Performing Arts Medicine is a medical charity providing people working and studying in the performing arts with specialised assessments in London and the regions.

You must be a licensed medical practitioner with management or governance experience and background in General Practice, Musculoskeletal Medicine, Rheumatology or Occupational Medicine. Experience in performing arts is desirable but not essential. Training is provided. The position can be based anywhere in UK, although regular travel is necessary.
